What does it say when last night I was dreaming about being able to see the stars and faint nebulosity on a clear day in Melbourne?

Only in a dream

I know that one. The one that is about 3.171e-13 Light years away in the constellation 'up' (or is it in 'Iboughtanewtelescopium'. I can't quite remember)?

NGC 001 if I remember correctly, from the 'No Goddam Chance' catalog?

Yup, pretty much. That was Thursday arvo and it's been on and off pretty much the same since. B.E.A.U.tiful.

It was cloudy when I went to bed but I was called into work at 01:30
It had cleared and I only looked for a minute or so and saw 3. On returning from work at 4:30 :mad2: I watched for a few minutes and saw 1 bright meteor running horizontally from Gemini. Bed beckoned so I didn't stay up anymore.

Cloud started to retreat at about 11pm so waited for Gemini to rise. About 12:30am the clouds came back and got thick again and stayed like that until about 6:30 am where the north is clear again.
Didn't see a thing, too low in the north.
Why wasnt that clear window between 2am-3:30am???
Well maybe tonight when the moon is a bit brighter

While out looking at Comet 46P this morning, about 3:30am, saw 1 Geminid at mag. 1.5 approx, pass between Orion and Taurus for about 20 deg. Watched for another half hour but didn't see any more.

HI All,

The night of maximum here was ruined by a combination of cirrus cloud and a dust event that between them meant the limiting magnitude was about 2.5. The dust, during the day before was thick enough at times to limit ground level visibility to about 2.5km and was never better than 5km.
Even so I wandered outside on my south facing back veranda and in 10 minutes around midnight on the 14th I saw four definite Geminids. This would have been a very impressive apparition had the clouds and dust stayed away.

Best,

l.
