Nice Aeroplane .... I hope their Computer / Electronics are ' hardened '....similar to a ' Faraday Cage ' from EMP ....( they should be ) for my money, otherwise it will fall from the sky.

Indeed, it's a given that such a threat is considered in the design. Without proof, I'd assume the more numerous, and more exported F-35A would recieve no less attention.

If you weigh less than about 62kg and bang-out, the combination of ejection G’s and helmet weight will snap your neck....generally not a problem for blokes (not the neck snapping bit, but the weight) ...well...maybe ex-jockeys, not to be confused with ex-fighter jocks :)....BUT...my point being, the laws of physics don’t give a toss about gender neutral recruitment.

The issue was the Mk16 seat over rotation (of the seat) on ejection for lightweight pilots. They are rated for mass between 63.5 to 106Kg. Of course even the F18 had seat mass limits. We used to raise this all the time at ARDU with a flight test engineer who was ....shall we say....over mass! He used to bump us off backseat rides in an excuse for hime in some flight regime test waffle. So we approached the CO.....hahah he had to loose weight! hahaha and had to weigh in. He was so embarrassed.



Its just this (mK16) seat was rotating on ejection tests with lightweight "jockey" pilots. I guess easy enough to fix with making them carry extra mass...just like the stewards do in horsey racing.

and I remember a FIII-C ' jockey ' who was just the right height to be a Pilot , but had to sit on a pillow to allow him to fly the ' PIG ' ....Safety Equipment Section ( SEW ) actually ' tailor ' made it for him.......I kid you not ...
