Hi all,
Sharpless 2-308, aka the Gourd Nebula. This one was a lot of fun but still relatively low in the sky until very late, the last of the data collected about 4:30am this morning chased by a lightening sky. Very faint with a touch of colour in the blue channel but a good strong OIII signal. This was RGB (10x 180s each) with red channel supplemented with 15x 300s Ha and blue and green channels supplemented with 24x 300s OIII, and then OIII used as luminance. Could still use more data but plenty of time to add to it... A bigger version at https://www.astrobin.com/full/379174/0/?nc=user

Did you get high thin cloud around 11pm? We sure did out near the airport.
Nice capture!

Thanks Mike, Trish, Lewis.
I started about 12:30 am (had to wait for it to clear a big liquidamber in the front yard). SH 2-308 was pretty close to the zenith around 3 - 4am and I could see some cloud skirting around the edges but luckily my little patch of sky was clear until 4:30. :) I added last night's data to some from a few weeks ago.

Thanks Chris.
Thanks Kevin, I love it too. I've been waiting months for it to creep above the horizon after dark. I'm surprised that it doesn't seem to be a common target.

Looking good so far! :D
I remember shooting this thing a few years ago, it just sucks light like there’s no tomorrow, it’s dim, like deep in the batcave at midnight dim. Needs as much O3 (& Ha) as you can throw at it! :D

That is a very nice composition. Not too close and not too far away. Colour is pleasing too in my opinion.

Good Gourd!
Never had the guts to try it, you have that 3d look at the bottom, love it

Thanks all,
Still hoping to add more data to it Andy. I've seen some amazing examples others have done where it looks like a glistening 3D bubble. I'll need plenty more narrowband for that!
Kevin
Well done. I can imagine how faint it is.

Thanks Bart and Chrys. I'm adding more OIII right now. I think it's going to be an ongoing project for a little while...
