A bit of tonight

Hi Karl
I am out there tonight.
Had to go to town and buy a battery as was shut down last night because the genny was keeping others awake.
When I connected the inverter...horrors nothing but it was the terminals...its been running for a couple of hours but my auto guide is not working yet again and the field of view with the 8 inch means I had to recenter regularly..but I am adjusting as I go and my 30 sec approach is getting me something.

I had a quick go at horsehead but guiding was at an avg total 1.40, plus at times. I'll get my head around this new set up, I find CDC good at the start to sync but stellarium to see where the camera is point at via APT.
Tomorrow night is meant to be clear, might get out again before sleep calls for an early wake up.

I am getting messed up.
I keep forgeting to note what filter I am using☺
The good news its still all running on the new battery but I have so many things to sort out.
But I grab what I can and make the best of it...
Managed some Orion but the fov with the 8 inch does not get in all I want ...

+1 for stellarium Karl. After a bad night at the football (we lost to Sydney) I thought I'd start from scratch with ngc1365 on my newt - but this time with the right coma corrector spacer ! Still clear in my part of Sydney and CFN said it would be cloudy

I’m having an awesome night! Finally got guiding working, not so flash in the north when I was trying for M45 but it’s sub 1.5 arc seconds total RMS in the south. Currently imaging the SMC to see how it looks in an image rather than just based on the graph. Hope everyone gets some good imaging time in.

I should have spent the extra few dollars and bought the Premium edition of BYEOS like you have

I was out last night too trying to get some short and long exposures of M42
Guiding was poor early on around 2.5arc sec total when I started imaging Orion was at 25 degrees. Guiding assistant told me my min mo was too low and my PA was >10 arc minutes but I drift aligned using the BYEOS drift tool and my alignment star Rigel was staying in the crosshairs for at least 3 minutes before drifting off , bit strange as I also used the Synscan PA routine which told me I was at approx 2arc min error on alt az
Any guiding improved to 1.7 arcsec by the time Orion was up at 40 degrees
Finished at around 1.00am and captured enough data I hope
I was a nice clear night in Sydney for a change

You've come along way from borrowing the missus lappy to down load your photos haven't you Karl. Good work mate :thumbsup:

Your total RMS is a lot lower than mine by a long shot, still I could get 80 sec subs but had to turn up my max DEC to about 8000 just to shut up the lappy from beeping at me. I'll get better at it in time and more practice. I used sharpcap to polar align and was 28 sec off, I used a 120mc as a guide camera usb 2 which made it slower in getting frames up on the screen. It was pretty easy to do.

I know Ryan a massive step up from everything,I even have my own desk now with all my crap on as she was sick of me using the dining table :lol:
