Finally visible to my unaided eyes, apart from glasses. Visual estimate Mag 5.6 DC = 4 Coma diameter 30 arc sec. The image shows the ion tail extending off the edge of the frame, over 30 arc minutes. The galaxy to the bottom left is pgc9273. Image 3 x 120 sec ISO 6400. Canon 60da, 8" f/4 newt astrograph.

Great capture, it's good to see that it's brightening as predicted. I've been wanting to have a go at this one but we've been stuck in a smoke and dust haze for the past week with 38 deg temps to boot.

Great image Justin. Those fast astrographs are perfect for capturing these little beauties. Great star colours too. Do you have to do any special tricks to get good star colour, seeing that your using a DA? I'd imagine the raw images would have a bit of a red tint due to increased Ha (+ ? IR) sensitivity.

I don't use Canon raw, always converted to tiff or jpg. I've had far more success processing the colour, especially for stars. I do increase colour saturation in photo shop. The 60da HA mod is fairly mild, haven't seen any difference in star colours between the unmodded 1100d and the 60da.
