Hi all,

Seeking advice for painting my Fsq clamshell to match my mount/telescope.
I can get the colour matched ok but I wasn't too sure about the preparation.
I didn't want to loose the textured finish if possible so I was thinking of going over lightly with scotch bright to make it adhere followed by a light dust coat before painting.
Am I on the right track?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Update,

Just finished re-painting my clamshell from the new Tak duck egg blue? (back to Tak green.)
Came out better than I expected using just a dippy dab method with some tamiya modelling brushes I had. The young lass at Bunnings did a great job at colour matching as well! Just used scotch brite to ruff the surface for a good bond and a good clean afterwards. I was also able to maintain the textured finish as well.

Yep!

Couldn't live with it being a different colour.
Happy now :D

I found dabbing with a foam brush ideal for touch ups or complete redo, but my extreme OCD sees me respraying every time

Darren..
Thinking the same thing about an AVX mount I have ..want to paint it white to match my big Refractor..but the WORK.

MAYBE I'll sell it, and get a white one..No...I won't look at it ..every time I do, I think .."it should be WHITE...LIKE THE SCOPE"..
ARGHHH!
OCDs a *****!
