Just arrived home this evening from a tour around Europe including a few days in Lapland Finland. We had perfect blue skies for the first two weeks (in Europe and Norway) but the cloud set in when we arrived in Finland. Fortunately there was a moment of clear skies when the Aurora was performing and I managed to get a few images. Also managed to get some NCP star trails while I was waiting for the main show.
It was quite inspiring to finally see and worth the effort to get there.

How awesome. Love that 5th one. Bit green though, you must've been taking lessons from Marc. :)

Cheers Troy. I was surprised how green it was in the photos. It wasn't so colourful to the eye.
Thanks Rick. It was a great relief to have the clouds part on the final night. I was beginning to think we weren't going to get a view after three cloudy nights. It would have been nice to haver a longer window however it is a pretty fickle thing to see and a lot of things need to align.
Thanks Marc. I'm happy with how they worked out given my lack of experience with this type of photography. The Olympus EM10 and Laowa lens is a good combination.

Great images Peter, the Auroras must have been an awesome sight to witness.
The star trail image also looks good pointing to the pole

Thanks Geoff. It's been on my to-do list for quite a while and I'm glad we did the trip and actually witnessed it. If I was planning it with what I now know I'd go later in Winter and get a hire car as there seems to be a high probability of cloud in those parts. The sun really put on a show while we were there with KP4-5 on three of the nights. It was supposed to be KP2-3 on the night tjese photos were taken.
Well done and thanks for sharing. I love seeing aurora pics :)

Thanks Geoff.
Looks stunning. Must have been amazing looking up at night to see that overhead. Would have been cool even on the cloudy nights I suspect!
Thanks for sharing link Peter

Thanks Rob. It wasn't quite what I was expecting however it was great to see it. I've been trying to work out how to publish an animation without busting the posting limit...hopefully this works...

Hello Peter,
I think they're wonderful images. I especially like #1 and #5. You should enter one of these in to the monthly photo competition as the subject this month is, "Something in a forest". Be quick as it closes soon.
Best
