Andrew,
Having removed many SW focusers I would recommend a good Philips screwdriver and good location and pressure. The scores should come out....
I normally replace them with hex dome head M4 screws.

If they are hex head screws I have found the t handled Allan keys are really good as they let you get a bit more purchase that you cant get with a normal Allen key. I picked them up from Bunnings for about $25.

I have Stanley philips head screwdrivers Ken and have Removed a few myself but this one feels different and it’s brand new so I’m a little worried about damaging it they just feel like they are welded in

Go for It!
Get a good fit and give it some force....
The original Philips screws should be able to be removed....
Some WD40 might help.

Andrew,
If needed I can send you a set of stainless steel M4 x 8 Allen socket, domed head screws.
(I use 24 of these on each Spectra-L200 spectrograph!)

Tap the handle end of the screw driver with a small hammer while inserted into the screw, I don’t mean bash it just light tapping.
