Got an email today from Aust post stating that an item was to be delivered today, nice of them, but it had got here 3 days ago!! When you think about it there was no human intervention in that email, when the item was posted the tracking number was recorded at the originating PO and as it went through the system it was automatically recorded at each stage, then when it went out to be delivered it was again recorded. So how on earth did it take an extra 3 days to generate the email? All I can think of is the software at Aust post is buggered up as well!!!
I'd email them back tomorrow and let them know it didn't arrive today.......you'll have them scratching their heads for weeks!

AusPost has really gone downhill since a previous CEO from overseas came in and gutted the place. It's a disgrace.
I had a parcel due the other day, and got a text message asking me to select 1 of 2 options:
1. someone will be home to take delivery; or
2. a card will be left for pickup at local post office.
What the ???? Isn't this what happens anyway?
What was once a national asset has been run down to the point of absurdity.

I had that this morning and said yes as I would be home. Had the front door open and luckily heard them turn up and pounced as one half of the pair on the van was about to shove the card in the mail box. Not sure why but they travel in pairs around here.
No knock on the door or anything. When challenged as to why he was carding it, I was told no one was home - I just walked out the front door in front of him and busted him "attempting delivery".
I am expecting 4 more parcels over the next week, I might relocate the office to the front door to pounce as I really don't want to have to fetch from the post office when I am going to be here working from home.

I made a formal complaint to AusPost for exactly the reasons Brian mentioned. My parcel guy was doing the same - I'd collect it from the PO before he'd even card it after faking "attempted delivery"!
Now, he most certainly comes to the door and knocks. First time after my complaint, he made some lame-arse excuse about "I know you guys are shift workers..." blah blah blah, to wit I told him no I am not. I work from home!
Anyway, he comes to the door now. That's the Aus Post mail guy only - conversely, the parcel guy (things that won't fit in the mail box) is bloody brilliant and knows what to do if I am not home.

Being elderly, and frequently having time on my hands, I decided to check
my postal deliveries over a period of time, to see how my experiences compared to the people contributing to this and similar threads.
Over the last 5 or 6 months or so I have had several dozen letters and
parcels from interstate and/or overseas, and all arrive at a sorting depot
in Welshpool. The depot is about 2hrs 50mins driving time from my home.
Over the aforementioned period over 75% of items did not arrive by the
post office supplied estimated delivery date. The quickest item took about
60hrs, and one item took 12 days. This is pretty ordinary, but I'm guessing
that it is a deliberate ploy to get people to use express post, which surprise
surprise does a pretty good job.

I so often see complaints about Aussie Post, but I have no such complaint with Australia Post. Nearly everything I have ordered has arrived, and mostly on time, or within a few days of the expected date. Since I allow for those few days I am not dissatisfied.
Of the many hundreds of orders I have only lost one significant order, a Night Vision Device. Even with tracking it disappeared, and tracing it proved fruitless. But that is okay, I got an immediate refund from the company I bought it from, with a promise that they will make up for it on my next order.
Only real issue; I bought the last NVD, and could not get another.
Australian Customs, on the other hand, have no sense of humour. They have snatched a couple of my imports lately.

Aust Post owns Startrack so I think this belongs here:
Startrack courier vehicle stop across the road, guy jumps out and runs over to my letterbox and puts something in......
Guy runs back to truck and drives off....
I go to the letterbox and find a card saying they tried to deliver a parcel that needed a signature but as nobody was at home it could not be delivered and I should collect it from a Post Office 12 kms away tomorrow....
I had been home all day............WTF ???

I think most deliverers are contractors, and maybe they have tendered too
low to win the job, and find themselves snowed under, and have to rush to get their loads delivered by the end of the day.

Yes they have bad ( lazy ! ) apples but they have probably 100,000's of them .

Tuesday 13/10 at lunchtime I ordered an item in Perth.
Wednesday morning Startrack collected it.
To day 730 AM the local freight depot rang to say it had been delivered to Kojonup.
Nobody delivers outside the town site, and anyway the parcel is on a pallet and weighs 140 KG.
So drive into town to collect, back home and unloaded by 1030AM.
I reckon not bad service.

I have to say I'm with the "No Probs With Aust., Post" people, both with their domestic service and their handling of o/seas items and this is over many years.
The Customs service is fine to deal with, if you know how to approach them.........I say this after having imported over $30k worth of music oriented gear over the last 15 years.

No I don't think ours is any better than any other state. Only last week I
complained yet again after I got "Brisened" , van driver leaving a card when
I was home.

I know it is early days yet, but my latest purchase coming from the Netherlands (Neverlands):
Wed Dec 12 2018 04:27 NL Shipment is at PostNL
Tue Dec 11 2018 22:34 NL Shipment is at PostNL
Tue Dec 11 2018 22:31 Shipment is expected, but not yet in sorting process
Tue Dec 11 2018 22:29 Shipment is expected, but not yet in sorting process
So, it was expected twice, then it is with Dutch Post twice...will PostNL live up to it's moniker of Post Never Leaves yet again?

They have outdone themselves this time. I have been waiting nearly two months for the dust covers for my new scope - they weren’t on the scope when I purchased it new and after several follow ups looking for them they were finally posted on Monday with AP indicating they would be here Wednesday - no such luck. They then have the audacity to tell me 90% of delayed mail arrives in 3 days after it was due.
No scans on the tracking beyond it being lodged at Pendle Hill. Why they have a tracking system if they aren’t going to use it is beyond me. Tonight I see the package is scanned in Adelaide. It was supposed to come to Queensland not take the scenic route via South Australia. Now they say next Wednesday. I will believe that when I see it given how long it took from Sydney to Adelaide. I lodged a complaint asking for an explanation on their ability to read a map and get stuff to the right geographic location. Should be an interesting response if they answer.
