Next item in my disposal sale is this NEQ6 Pro. It was purchased new in 2013 and I bought it second-hand but unused about 12 months ago. Since then I have used it very little but have made many modifications and improvements.
1. Half pillar extension. This has been securely bolted to the tripod head to eliminate the biggest bugbear of these extensions - the tendency to rotate. Also fitted with quick detach handles on the top bolts to make it easy to set up without tools.
2. Puck has been fitted with guide bars to make it more rigid and easier to adjust.
3. Alt adjustment has been modified - no more easily bent dual screws. It now has a single knob which requires very little torque to operate and can be very finely adusted. The alt friction adjusting bolts have also been brought out to hand adjustable knobs.
4. Rowan belt drive installed. Viewing windows were also installed to monitor drive operation and make belt tension adjustment simple.
5. During belt mod. installation the mount was completely stripped, relubricated and adjusted. There is almost no backlash on both axes with smooth operation throughout the range.
6. Screw lock power plug and socket.
The mount comes with two counterweights, Synscan controller and all cables including a home-made EQDirect USB cable that works perfectly.
I have not carried out any guiding and so have no data on periodic error etc. but visual guiding using crosshair eyepiece is very good.
