Like a moth to the flame the Nikon coolpix P1000 is intriguing to me. I just can't put my finger on it, but I am no Nikon fanboy....

David:
Let me get this straight... 125x marketing BS intrigues you even though you know that magnification is not where it is at...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Yes it might be that, I am feeling better today :help:
You need to focus David.
You need to zoom into what’s really important to you right now.
Nik-on over to Camera House and have another look at it, optically.
You may be over the moon about it now but it doesn’t look like any of your other cameras so how are you going to get it into the house?
Besides, you won’t be able to sneak it into a Rod Stewart concert in the Hunter Valley, it’s too big.
Then again you may be able to zoom in from the fence. :P
Hope I’ve been some help.

Nah...you don't want it...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZOpBHGUBxY
I do, but you don't.
You're not being very helpful Lewis.
Houghy can get arrested using a camera like that in public!
No one's going to believe his story of why he's out at night, during a lunar eclipse, with that thing zooming around the neighbourhood.
:scared:
Then again, it does look like a nice, retractable scope.

Ha, I bought three P900's for work as they were supposed to be more or less the king of optical zooms in that format of camera (At the time, a year or so ago) We have to take photos of fibre optic cable attachments on power poles (Thousands of them)
I reckon when you can clearly make out the detail of spider webs on the fibre attachment hardware standing 25M from the pole it is not doing too badly.
I have snaffled a few moon shots with it too, nothing to write home about as I had to do it hand held, but I was working over night and the lunar eclipse was there so well...

Well I have a Canon 60hs and a 600mm lens and a 2x converter for the canon 80d, but this would be another level again and, cough, more portable
