When do we think the cloud will go away Sydneysiders?

it is so bloody frustrating :mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2:
What is it, 12 days of rain and overcast weather in a row now?

:(
Up here in Europe, the last long (months long) stretches of extreme weather during our winter and also our summer were explained with a slowing down of the arctic jet stream and its growing "amplitude". which make low and high pressure systems hover locked in for longer than in the past.

Does the weather channel give any explanation for that long-ish stretch of the assumably low pressure system over Sydney?
Here's a cloud forecast website for the Eastern Hemisphere which gives an overview on where clouds form downunder for the next week.
http://www.myweather2.com/forecastcloud/player.aspx?fc=47

Here's the more detailed one for Australia and NZ alone: http://www.myweather2.com/forecastcloud/player.aspx?fc=12

You can either play the whole thingy. Or, that's what I do, drag your cursor slowly along the timeline on the top to see the development of cloud formation.

For my area in Northern Germany, the forecast is almost always astonishingly accurate. I don't know how their forecast accuracy plays out over Australia.

Thanks Anette that is a great site. According to that we might get a brief window tomorrow night and then clear skies from Sunday.

I’m not sure but this stretch of cloudy skies seems abnormally long to me. That might be just because I haven’t taken much notice before as I only started AP 6 months ago. But i know it’s a long stretch because my back muscles are starting to heal from not having to move my mount in and out of the house every night

Skippysky is a good one as well, Saturday late looks good as well as Sunday. Sydney looks like it'll have a few hours Friday night too.

When is it going away?
"Tomorrow" ... "Oh bugger" said unlucky Alf.

CFN (https://www.cloudfreenight.com) says there's a sucker hole on Friday in Sydney but the moon is up and it's pretty tight. :windy:

Well it is not only in Sydney.
I have been at my dark place in Tabby for two weeks and it has been raining more or less non stop and now it seems like it cycles daily quiet apart from anything new coming in.
So I pack the car and return to similar it seems.
I have had a break from it all to a degree in so far as I have not done any processing either...I have used the time to read my startools manual and phd guiding manual.
But I must say being in bed with rain on the iron roof is something I do enjoy.

True - it's good to see all this water for a change.

What I did notice Marc was your name in the Startool credits...that was real nice.

Ivo's one of the nice guys. He did an incredible amount of work for the astro community with very little return compared to the time he's devoted to it. Top bloke.

Bucket loads of water in western sydney yesterday arvo. Lot of fog this morning. Temps are supposed to sore to 30c maybe today and tomorrow then another shower and temperature drop forecast for Sunday. Looks like quite a ride. The grass is growing just looking at it. Everything is green in my suburb.

I won't be complaining about rain any time soon. After the year we've had and with the state 100% drought-declared I'm happy to listen to the rain for a while yet. It's just a pity (though predictable) that the rain is mostly confined to the coast. The inland could use another 100mm real soon.

The good and bad, as Marc implied, is the lawn. It was nearly dead and looked horrible - hadn't needed mowing since May. Now it's green and lush but instead of a Friday arvo beverage it will have to be a Friday arvo mow.

I have just returned from my dark site west of Brisbane. After a year with practically no rain, we have now had 220mm so far this month (8 1/2 inches). Yesterday, 87mm fell in 24 hours, well over 3 inches. Thats my silver lining! All the tanks are full.

Well, with all this water we now have, I might go and bathe.

18 days of rain in Sydney and there’s more to come
I was going to set up this afternoon to do some imaging tonight as the forecast looked ok but I’m glad I didn’t.Cloud moving in, half moon up high and neighbours having a party with 4 flood lights blasting light spill across my yard
Maybe we might get a break in the weather next weekend as during the week showers are forecast 1 to 5mm and the odd afternoon thunderstorm
The NSW and QLD eastern coastline doesn’t need any more rain , it’s inland that needs it west of the divide

I think the more rain, the better. The long term forecast is hot and dry so water right now is money in the bank. The more the better. We're nearing end of october and still no major heatwave on the coast, so that's good.

I got few hours of subs in last night. Clouds rolled in at about 3am so I just switched to darks.

I like this weather. This afternoon the storm brought down half of a tree in my backyard. Looks like the whole tree might have to go now. It took up a big chunk of my the east-northeast view

Horizontal rain yesterday late afternoon. Very windy and bucket loads.
