NGC6357, also known as the 'Crab Nebula' (it does actually look like a crab) is a diffuse nebula in the constellation of Sagittarius. This image is from the Ha data captured as part of a narrowband set of Ha, OIII and SII. The Ha image makes for a wonderful display on its own so I have published it separately prior to attacking the full SHO processing.

Enjoy.

Edit: Ive just realised that the correct generic name is “Lobster Nebula”. Anyway, it definitely looks like a crustacean of sorts ...

Wonderful! It leaps off the page while still containing subtle delicate nuances.

Excellent depth, and the fine detail is sharp when we zoom in.

Your field of view is just right for capturing the whole thing in context, and revealing the crab-lobster look.

Nice contrasty image Rodney. Actually, I think it looks more like the business end of a bull-ant.

Thanks Rick/Geoff, I like the bull ant comparison.
