THE US Air Force’s Tyndall Air Base in Florida has taken a direct hit. Many of its ultra-advanced F-22 Raptor stealth fighters have been caught on the ground.
Exactly how many of the $475 million aircraft were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Michael has not yet been revealed.

The United States Air Force could only afford to buy 187 operational examples of the 5th generation stealth fighter. Now, that number may have been significantly reduced.

I read that story (https://www.news.com.au/technology/innovation/military/f22-raptors-damaged-destroyed-by-hurricane-michael/news-story/d89d7c18e1b3caf550238cbdd7a8a2ba), too, but the evidence was pretty thin - just two partial photos too far away to show any actual damage. We'll have to wait and see.

Also, read this (http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/24204/setting-the-record-straight-on-why-fighter-jets-cant-all-simply-fly-away-to-escape-storms).

Now if only they could teach these fighter jocks to dive deep (submerge) to ride out a storm like real warriors! :D

"THE US Air Force’s Tyndall Air Base in Florida has taken a direct hit. "

A Reagan-type could interpret this as an aggressive terror act by an enemy and now call for "war on climate change". This time, such a person would even get a UN resolution from the general assembly, and without manufacturing "proof".

Indeed. :)

But it could be a Lockheed-Martin ploy to get a new contract to build replacements

The video shows a helluva lot of damage, shades of Cyclone Tracy.

Good riddance to the weapons of war. I won't miss them.

edit: mother nature is punishing the worlds largest per capita polluter. I feel no pity for them.

It's OK Dave, they are living within their means. Apparently the US only bought what it can "afford" - about 200 of them (do the math). Meanwhile residents of Puerto Rico are still living under canvas without power. And the country's health care is a standing joke. :screwy::screwy::screwy:
