Here's a shot I got last night, at the most it gets to 12 deg at my place and goes in between two hills to the north. Total time usable subs is 29 mins, I think it's in view for around an hour maybe a little more at home. I could probably go up top of my hill and get more subs but I'm pretty happy with what I've gotten. This is my first go at AP on a galaxy.
32 x 55 sec subs
20 x 55 sec darks
Master bias
Master flats
With a 130mm F5 newt
HEQ5 un guided
Canon 700d prime focus
DSS and Star tools

Beautiful soft core Karl. Well done.
You're getting the same specklng that I get on the outer edges of the spiral but I've seen it on others too. I'm not sure if this is a data quantity issue because I went from 250 subs to 669 and it really didn't help with that part of the photo. Maybe someone else cam chime in with what that is. I do notice that it isn't as prominent in 32 bits per channel and gets worse from 16 to 8.
Well done though Karl, you've come such along way in the last month !

Looks great Karl. I'm envious as M31 is too low for me.

I think the speckling is the outer parts of the galaxy, could be wrong but that's what it looks like to me.
Star tools has helped bring some much out of my pics now, I've redone old pics and it's brought out so much more.

Brilliant image Karl !!
You must have some good clear sky’s at low attitudes up your way to allow that 130mm newt to pick up great detail and brightness
Wait until you start guiding !!

I live about 35km of mudgee Martin and 630m above sea level, so it's good clear skies when it's not cloudy.
Go for it Chris, about midnight is when it hits the meridian.
