About 9 hours on NGC 300 (6 hours luminance) taken at a dark sky site in the southern Flinders ranges in SA last weekend. Cloud + wind meant that this was the only data/object I managed to gather :(
Taken with a ZWO ASI1600MM-C on a GSO RC8 + Astro-Physics Mach1.
Higher res version available on Astrobin here (https://www.astrobin.com/full/370978/D/).
Comments/suggestions welcome as always.

Paul, that is splendid! Very well acquired and processed. Beautiful to see.

As a faint galaxy, the 6 hours of luminance really helps it pop from the background :)

:eyepop: Nailed it! Top notch Paul.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Love that little galaxy cluster at 10 o'clock and all the background faint fuzzies. You must have got some decent seing.

Very well done!!

Great image....really enjoy seeing faint galaxies in the background, really puts things in perspective (how small we are!)

Thanks guys!
I noticed that the FWHM for the luminance got down to a tad over 2" for some subs, and averaged (in the data I kept) about 2.4". A couple of the red channel subs made it under 2". So, yeah. I think seeing was ok - wind was the main issue keeping the FWHMs a bit high.
Not too far from civilisation … or at least Adelaide! :)

That's a very fine image of a faint surface brightness galaxy. Love it.

Really nice. I'm hoping to give this a go with my RC8 as well. Just need some clear dark skies!

Impressive image Paul.
Nice detail and colour. The faint fuzzies really set it off.
Nice mount you have there.

Thanks Dave.
Ironically the mount gave me a few issues. It's quite new and I'm still getting used to it. I think I had it set up too close to perfect balance in RA, as it was very sensitive to the slightest wind gust. I'll try to unbalance more in future - with my old EQ6 I always unbalanced a lot as its backlash was significant, but I guess I didn't think a "premium mount" would be an issue. They still have backlash of course :)
Very nice Mr Duck! You are getting that ASI1600 and GSO combo down pat!
I might have to get one just to keep up!

Thank you, Master Simpson! :)
I'm enjoying using the 1600 - a nice upgrade from my trusty old QHY8.

Nice work Paul on a very tricky object. Colour looks good but detail could be drawn out in the core I think.

Updated the core after Paul H's suggestion. On Astrobin (https://www.astrobin.com/full/370978/E/). Any better?
