From Oct 6, 6pm UTC to Oct 7, 9am UTC, aurora is likely to appear.
Caused by sun stuff spewing from a coronal hole and streaming into earth's magnetic field. That same coronal hole caused a fine geomagnetic storm 25 days ago in the sun's last rotation cycle. And the hole grew bigger since then!

If all goes well, people in Tassie might be able to actually see white-ish curtains moving in the southern night sky. Photographically visible in full colour it should be in any case, and from a lot further north, too.
Nice event. Given that we are in solar minimum and auroras became scarce. Any aurora chasers getting giddy in Oz and NZ?
