Thanks Lewis, I was not sure if my "dad joke" photo would even work, or if it did, whether the corny joke would backfire or not. Getting those water drops there and in focus took a bit of luck and time.

I've had a few spectacular failures here, but I am really happy with this one. I've been playing with a macro lens that I got for my birthday earlier this year, and am trying out some ideas. Its amazing what you see when you follow a few photography groups on Facebook, esp. Creative Macro, Landscape, Nightscape, Sunsets.

I'm glad I wasn't on daylight saving time :P.

After cooking dinner I decided to have another attempt at this flower this time at night using different lighting & exposure. Boy, it turned out so flat, even though there was more detail in the petal. I must've blown a zillion bubbles trying to get one to settle for long enough in the right spot. No bubble blower so I used an empty pen, and no glycerine, things got worse when I switched to an ultra (concentrated) detergent after I ran out of the previous one. Turns out ultra gives very weak bubbles. This is my first time around doing macro & I was also learning to shape light & first time using a black background and a white reflector. And then so much tidying up afterward. So I'm not surprised I cut it so finely :lol:.

My first attempt was was the day before (pale pink flowers) but I hoped I could do better with the one day to spare. Talk about learning macro under pressure :P:lol:.

Your efforts paid off! IMHO. Although hard to top Tim's effort.
I couldn't get anything I was happy with, even for the rejects thread. :shrug:

It was a great learning process that's for sure and loads of fun.
What I really wanted to do last week was a shot of my little 16 month old grandson sitting on the grass with lots of falling Bougainvillea flowers on his head along with a little shower from the hose. Not sure how he would've reacted to that so perhaps they wouldn't have turned out. But he was sick with a cold. I don't have many flowers at the moment so I was only down to three choices.

I'm starting to get hooked on macro! To wish for a 100mm dedicated lens one day... I was using my Canon 24-70 L IS USM with the macro setting. Shall see how the addiction goes before I splurge!
