Venus is getting big and thin! Taken at midday today, about 12pm, Meade LX90 ACF 8" SCT, ZWO ASI 183mm Pro at prime focus using ROI, IR720nm infrared filter, best 800 frames (it was jiggling about like jelly on a plate with unsteady atmosphere). Captured in sharpcap, stabilized in PIPP, stacked in Registax, processed in Photoshop.

Nicely done Kevin, it really is a beautiful sight. It's also a timely reminder of the inferior conjunction later this month. Quite a few of us will be watching me thinks. It's also the last one before the epic near-transit of 2020, which will see the horns of the crescent meet to make a full circle. It will also be the closest inferior conjunction until the next actual Transit of Venus in 2117.

Thanks Miro and Ross. Thanks for the info Mirko. That will be a difficult one to capture, so close to the Sun.

Thanks Lewis. Yes it's very versatile. Going mono was the right choice, for me.
