Ngc 300

Hi Guys,
NGC300 taken with the esprit 150mm on a ZWO ASI071 OSC camera.
The shot was taken at Boronia, Melbourne where the light pollution isn't getting any better, in fact I think the new LED street lights are making it worse. There is only 25 x 6 minutes of exposure for this one, I'm hoping Melbourne will be kind to me and give me a decent night so I can collect a little more data to get the noise down a bit more, but I'm not counting on it. :)

that's quite lovely, and given that you took the image while wrestling with crocodiles, excellent. Beautiful colour. Lots and lots and lots of background galaxies.

That is VERY nice Peter. Beautifully processed too. It's a faint galaxy at the best of times.

Great result even with the LED's...and apparently crocodiles..? :question: :shrug: Even though it's not a more showy classic spiral like the Pavo galaxy or ngc 1232 et al, there is something about being able to look inside these nearby galaxies and see stuff, not to mention the great cosmic back drop this baby sits against :thumbsup:

Considering the low surface brightness of this galaxy and the light pollution, this is a very good result. It would be nice to supplement the data with some from a dark sky site.

Thanks for your comments. Next time Melbourne is kind too me I will collect another 3 Hours of NGC300 data, even given the level of light pollution here, its is surprising what you can get with with 6 hours of data. "Not as good as a Dark site though".

Thanks for your comments. I like NGC1232, but even with the Meade 12" F8, NGC1232 at magitude 10.9 it is right on the limits of what I can catch here with the current level of light pollution. Not that that will stop me trying. :D

Thanks for you comments. It certainly is a bit of a challenge, you don't see much until you start processing it. Pixinsight might have a steep learning curve, but once you master it, it can work wonders.
