This bad boy did a loop along the Brisbane River today, a dry run in preparation for Riverfire 2018 on Sat 29th Sept 2018.

This is a composite from several frames blended together in PS CC.

That's a great image Dennis. At first glimpse I thought there were 10 planes flying nose to tail before I re-read the thread.

Top stuff.

And tomorrow you have two EA-18G Growlers over Brisbane around 1pm.

A fabulous shot. I see these jets all the time around my area.

Thanks Peter, Hans and Greg, I appreciate your comments.:)

I was a little disappointed by PixInsight's lack of an "Align on Buildings" Process, so I had to use PS CC instead.;)

@Hans: in 2017 there was only 1 Growler for the Friday dry run, although it did perform two passes. In previous years, we have enjoyed the sight and sound of x2 Super Hornets on the Friday practice run.

Weather looks a bit iffy today so I may not make the trek into town for the Growler(s).

Here's the Globemaster making a slow turn under somewhat leaden skies.

Two Royal Australian Air Force EA-18G Growlers turned up today and put on a stunning low-pass display. My chest was reverberating with their, um, growling as they growled their way past the Kangaroo Point Cliffs and flew along the Brisbane River.:)

Here are some F/A-18F Super Hornets from the 2016 practice session. The Growlers first made their appearance in the 2017 event.

And here is one of the Growlers from today when the Sun played nice.:)

I think that these airframes may have been sprayed with some anti-AF paint as I experienced a number of shots out of focus.;)

Fantastic capture Dennis. For those on Facebook The Royal Australian Airforce page has a 360 degree in cockpit footage of the flyover...what the pilot saw.

Thanks Bob and Derek, I appreciate your comments.:)

Such a multi-dimensional experience; the visceral thrill of fast jets whizzing by, the intellectual appreciation of these engineering marvels and the lament that their very existence is part of our current standing as a so called "advanced civilisation".:)

Very sharp photos Dennis. The plane looks like it just hanging there in front of the balconies with the people watching. Frozen in time. Pretty cool.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Wow - looks like Joel had a blast filming this event. I assume it was at Evans Heads?

Did Joel get to enjoy the event or was he too focused on the technical aspect of the filming session?

They are cavernous aircraft from inside, loved the air-to-air scenes, I assume the camera operator was tethered to the aircraft.;)

Yes Dennis they went down the coast then up again along North Stradbroke Island, and got a fair way down the ramp all strapped in! while it was open, his friend Jarrod Stock also got some images-one features on front cover of July/Sept 'Areo' magazine. Yes Joel took images of the planes at River fire and then went home.He has been out in KC 30 and had filmed the hornets come to re fuel. Will try and find the link
