I recently purchased one of the ASIAir wireless control units in an attempt to simplify the cable tangles on my telescope setup.

The ASIAir unit comes with a cable that lets you control the mount as well as cameras and other USB devices. However, the mount-control cable is a USB-A to DB9 - presumably for the NEQ6 type of mount. I have an EQ8 mount and want to use the device to control it, so I plan to add an adapter to the DB9 end that I can plug into the mount's RJ45 handset socket.

To avoid any chance of frying the mount's control circuitry, I need to ensure that the adapter has the correct pinouts at each end. After looking at the pinout diagrams for both the NEQ6 and EQ8 mounts, my question is: which DB9 pins should be connected to which RJ45 pins inside the adapter?

Thanks in advance for any authoritative advice.

Try emailing Sam at ZWO to get his advice, he is pretty quick to respond. There is also the ZWO ASI user forum, which might have dealt with this issue already.
