Folks...

thought i might get myself one of those zwo adaptors so i can
attach my canon lenses to my zwo 224,
for a bit of fun.

researching the internets, i have not found many examples
of what results might be possible...

I have an L-series lens or two that might work nicely...

anyone out there doing this, and willing to share a few pics?

cheers,

I have been playing around with Nikon lenses on an ASI1600mm and have found that getting spacing right and removing tilt is a bit of a challenge. The 224 sensor is a lot smaller so it shouldn't be as difficult.

Attached image is 20 mins of short Ha subs through a 21mm Zeiss lens.

I have some longer Ha integrations done with a Samyang 135mm f/2 that I'll be playing with tonight (collected the data last night.)

Cheers,
Rick.

Magic image Rick.
I was interested un trying my cheap Nikon lens with the zwo but they didnt have the adapter at the time.

Your image is very nice indeed.

You show how exciting wide field narrow band could be...

Thanks, Alex. I think there's great potential there but it has some challenges too.

Focus is already an issue with my lens which could only be more annoying.
Anyways one day☺

Even with a good, older style lens designed for manual focus it is very fiddly, Alex!

Thanks Rick - interesting. (and very nice pic BTW)

I notice that zwo also sell a 'tilt adjuster'.
(presumably to correct a problem that shouldn't actually
occur in the first place, but hey....its a good way to up the profits ;-) )

i was going to try this using a 70-200mm f4 piggybacked on my scope,
as doing it with the dslr is also fiddly, and the added weight strains the motors
something awful.

If it's not simply a matter of bolting on the camera
and off we go...maybe i'll give it a miss...

Thanks. There's a colour pic in the thread with link below that I took with an ASI294mc and lens. I needed to use a Lum filter for UV/IR blocking before I could get decent results and I think you'll need to do the same.

Thanks! I think the ZWO/lens combo is worth persevering with.
