This one's probably a bit premature, but since I'm sharing... I've been trying to photograph this galaxy for years but every time it comes up I have drastic hardware issues and I never get to image it.

This is only 4.6hrs of data, I intend to keep shooting it over the coming months, hopefully under better conditions.

Even if only half-baked, I'm pretty happy to finally have a colour image of this beauty.

Lee, you keep surprising us with excellent images in rapid succession.

Again, the colour is particularly pleasing. Some might say it is unnaturally saturated, but we would answer that telescope images are meant to be unnaturally large, bright, and resolved. They show differences that the eye alone cannot see.

Well done!

I like the colour. Really rich without being saturated.

Very nice detail and colour Lee. The astrobin image really does it justice

Just need a bit more time on it and that will be a cracker of an image, Lee! It's already very good.

Thanks! :-) Yeah I'm definitely walking a fine line with the colour... I'm reasonably happy with it for now, but we'll see how I feel given a bit more time. I hope to get a lot more data on this one, so I'll no doubt process it many times.

Thanks Geoff :-)

Thanks Colin! I realise I left off the link in the OP, I'll add that in now.

Thanks Kevin :-)

Yeah, I agree. I intend to get a lot more data on this one... this is definitely a work in progress.

Recently I've started leaving the observatory open doing unattended imaging while I try to sleep... normally I wouldn't have even started trying to image this until December and then I would get at most 2hrs of data a night. So far this one has been scraping in about an hour of data a night after other targets were completed, and before the fog rolled in.

Once the seeing improves and I resolve my issues or find better ways to work around them I'm hoping to be able to start pulling in 4+ hrs on a target on a given night which will make deeper integrations a lot more realistic than they have been in the past.

That said, it is relatively bright and many integrations of this one seem to be pretty short.

Thanks Marc! Definitely one of my faves too; hopefully I'll get a lot more data on this so I can do it justice.

Hi Lee,
I'd be more than happy with that -
if I could ever get the time to image.

cheers

That is a very nice NGC 1365 Lee. Nice sharp detail all the way to the core. I'm afraid I think the colour is a bit over saturated but only to a small degree. It's all a matter of personal preference though.

Thanks Ross, Allan and Steve :-)

Steve, I'll have to reprocess it when the weather clears and I start getting more data on it so I'll have a bit more of a play with the colour when I do that.

Really quite nice. Similar in processing style to your 6744 image. But this one is a tad oversaturated in colour in my opinion.

I don't mind a bit of colour but its a tad exaggerated.

Thanks Greg and Tim. Sorry I missed your comments earlier!

I've finally resolved some optical issues and found some clear skies so I was able to get back to this one.

I've now reprocessed it and dialled back the colour as has been suggested.

Doesn't look half-baked to me! Looks great to me. What would you be hoping to add to it?

Thanks Markus :-) I've added some more data to it now and reprocessed it so I'm reasonably content... until I look at it again five days from now and wondered how I thought that looked ok

Thanks Rick :-)
