Planetary shots?

Anyone being able to get some new shots of the gas giants? Love to see those planets.

I've got my ToUcam now, but can't take any shots this week as I don't have the laptop.. next week i'll be up early to take some pics of saturn and (maybe) jupiter.

unless I drag my desktop outside or get a 50m USB cable :)

Jupiter should be good for us southerners this summer, it looks like it's going to go directly overhead! Saturn doesn't look like it will get much higher than 50-60 degrees.

Weather here has been godawful as well, and it comes from your place too!!
I have been trying some lunar imaging lately, but hard to get motivated when the clouds roll in not long after you start. Seeing has been very poor as well, and I normally view at a reasonably high power first to establish whether it is worth getting the ToUcam etc out.
I suppose patience is in order.

Excellent shots of Jupiter there Ving! :cool2: I'm hoping to get a few shots next week when I get the laptop back.. jupiter's getting higher and higher each morning! :cool:

Yeah I saw Jupiter over the weekend when I was out in the boat. Looks very bright, another couple of months and it will be at opposition. Saturn is also getting higher each day, but much slower. Tried to image it a week ago, but clouds got in the way, so I just tried to observe it through my scope. It was the first time that I have seen it through this particular scope. Even with a barlow it was still a little small. Must get a 5x so that I can image it on the LPI.

Exciting times ahead I hope. Another month I will be going over to my block over on Yorks and doing some serious astro stuff. Dark skies........

Hi Paul,
Yes i used a 2x barlow and then stacked the images in registax.

:newbie: , i drifted in after lurking at the astronomyonline forums for a while.
ive got a 6" GSO dob and took a quick 4 sec .avi of jupiter last night with a modded webcam and run it through registax with no idea what it was doing and this came out.
