I forgot about this data, grabbed in mid July while in the middle of another project. Will likely revisit next year now, to finish... :)

170min of Halpha on a field not often framed

Prawn and Tower (https://www.flickr.com/photos/strongman/44516556112/in/dateposted-public/) (click on image and surf with your cursor)

For the pixel peepers this is the full frame Full Resolution (http://www.pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/image/168089661/original) version.

The image certainly has that grandeur feeling to it. Love it!

I really enjoyed surfing the full resolution version and was really impressed with the flatness of the field with such huge sensor. There are possibly some small curious looking distortions in the bottom-right corner of the image, not sure what would have caused them, maybe star alignment and stacking?

Looking forward to seeing completed image next year

Cheers Suavi

I suspect that "distortion" is some minor icing in that corner  you have to look pretty hard to see it though ;) very few people post 100% full res images :)...I have had the camera for 9 years now...might need a re gas :)

I didn't mean to be fastidious  the image is really nice and your setup produces impressive wide field data that makes one pause and ponder a bit. Please keep them coming

Fantastic prawn Mike, but the other stuff is beautiful. It’s an amazing universe that we live in!

Very cool, Mikey! I have always wanted to do a NB mosaic around that area.

Cheers,
Rick.

A great looking widefield monochrome photo Mike.

So sharp and detailed...I love the look of the Dark Tower.

Nice tones and composition.

Have to agree with you Geoff...I guess that's why we do what we do..in the freezing cold....and heat and mosquittoes, often with little sleep... :help:

Might make this a NB shot too...ooor just a HaRGB...hmmm?..might even be able to grab some data before it disapears this year too ...my mind had moved on to something else though and I was just waiting for the weather gods to cooperate....we'll see :)

Thanks Ross, always many ways to display ya data, I went for bright where it should be bright over squeaking out the details and I tried to show all the very faint stuff too...

Nice Mike - yours looks more like the same piece of sky than my earlier mosaic effort (https://www.astrobin.com/299134/)
I love your FOV, it's a killer! :D

Who will get their colour first? ;)

Yeah it's a great field for sure, beats having to get multiple frames for a mozaic :P....good for lazy'ol Mike anyway...

Yeah there is a bit of neb in there David, I'll probably grab some more Ha when I get onto this field again though...?

An unfinished image ...now, what would you know about that Tim???

A welcome and different point of view, once again reminding us that a galaxy is not made of a bunch of "objects" studded against blackness.

Ha Ha Ha! Got me there indeed!

Is an image unfinished if you don't even have time to start it?....Processing, I mean.

Worth the effort of the extra imaging Mike. Its a really great panorama with a number of interesting regions. I haven’t seen this type of view before for omega nebula. Look forward to seeing the end result some time.

Epic field of view. Something I missed out doing when I had an FSQ. I should have bolted the STXL onto the back and done a few large wide fields. I'll look forward to colour version Mike.

Impressive looking Ha Mike. You will be pleased with that effort.

Are you still pushing that dome around with one hand and drinking beer with the other.

So much going on in that FOV. Great attention to detail as always Mike. Thanks for the view.

Cheers Dave, it's not the Omega neb though, that's another name for the Swan or M17, this is the Prawn....too many animals in space :)

Thanks Marc, amazing for point and shoot :P

Who knows...I nearly grabbed the colour two nights ago but balked in favour of something else

One day...I lose interest pretty easy, like a 3 year old :)

Yep, still a dome pusher

Ya'r welcome Peter :D

Really nice Mike, it shows a bit more resolution than my QHY163M + 135mm setup which have kinda similar FOVs ;)
