I have been given a garden shed with a separate gable roof.:D :P This will form the basis of my new observatory:) :) . Best bit when I told the wife, I didn't buy it, I got it for nothing;) . The worst bit, she said where are you going to keep it?:scared:

it is fully disassembled, all I have to do pickit up. Then spend countless hours of trying to work out how it went together.

Alright!......say the word and I'll round up a few of the boys and we'll start digging up the back yard!

You'll have to have a couple of cases of crownies stashed somewhere though.:P

Congrats on the new acquisition David - does that mean you are having a shed (oppps I mean) observatory warming party;).

Cheers Petra

Thanks ED, yep a BBQ and a few ales afterwards.......but many many hours of preparation must go ahead before this gets erected. Must work on the wife, must clean up the back office and shed first, then pick the ideal spot and get ministerial approval in triplicate:whistle:

Then I have to ask Photoncollector and Tornado33 very very nicely to put a slab in for me;)

;)

yep thanks but I like the options posted by a member of IIS where he reinforce his observatory with unistrut construction. depending on cost, I might get that or make it out of timber, and c purlins.

not sure how much the slab will cost.

but I have a pier!!!!!:D

c purlins might be a little weak you might have to go atleast 2mm thick for strength. Oh btw how big is the shed :P I am in the process of converting my 6x3 into an obs.

Onya Houghmeister!!!

Better make it nicely landscaped around it so the missus will grow to like the look of it, rather than just a shed plopped down in the yard

Ask her what plants & flowers she would like put in the garden bed around it :)

Onya h0ughy, as a wise real estate saleswoman once said "A man's not a man without a shed" Tell SWMBO you need it to get in touch with your masculine side....:P

Good on you David. I have a shed waiting to be picked up when I get back from Sydney, leaving now for there, but I had to pay for it got tired of waiting for the Universe to provide it. Insulation is going to cost more than the shed it seems but it has to be done in my case, newly cooked the eq6 leaving it out under a blanket and tarp because I sleept in till noon after an all night session.. I was protecting it from rain but it was the Sun that I did not count upon.
Good luck with the erection and completion.
I intend placing the whole thing on wheels and rolling the shed away from the pier to view and photograph..

yep I will do that Ving!!

Might organise a turf turning working bee and concrete laying BBQ, followed by the "barn" raising BBQ, then the installation and then a first light night.

I wonderthen if my wife will ever speak to me.........................
