I have t o say I think the current Image of the Week has set the record for the longest Image of the Week. Looking at the attached thread has it really been 2 years?

Sorry for being slow on this train, but how come the IOTW hasn't changed for two years?

And prior to that the IOTW has been on a slo w decline with poor number of images in the last year any alternate images was made. Not a good look for the premier Australian astro site, and discouraging for participants as it dampens enthusiasm.

Joe needs to start charging a daily artist fee for the image...that might wake Mike up

Yup...we need a new IOTD (image of the decade) ;)

At the expense of sticking my neck out, is it worth asking for that function to be delegated to the (active) Mod's role? No disrespect meant to the Man, but if a single position is assigned the task, couldn't it be shuffled on when he has his hands full?

Because...

This is absolutely how it looks. To the casual "outsider" it appears a little... stale? Sad, considering passers by may miss the bantz, wisdom, poo-flinging, and glorious entertainment contained within. There's no shortage of IOTW contenders in the AP (and even Beginner's AP) sections. How's about it?

I agree, it needs to be updated but as I said, that part of the forum is under the direct control of Mike and we as mods don't have access to alter it.
We've reminded him many times. :)
Feel free to send him an email if you like and voice your concern.

I'll work on this shortly.. I'm sure it'll make it near the top of the prioritised list of things to do (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=1394060&postcount=10) :)

good luck prioritising mate. I'm so sick of web as I work in IT and cant be bothered with my own personal website much. Personally image of the (whatever) is no interest to myself but i'm sure others would enjoy it. I dont know what if anything we are lacking here thats essential, its just some bling really. Personally I only spend time in the forum and seriously didnt know the image of week feature but i found it. Maybe the mods can find a way to implement the feature a new way via the access and tools they have and forget trying to fix or migrate the existing one. all the end user cares about is being able to see the image, cms functionality is irrelevant. maybe mods have private vote to pick bst image posted in the month as the choice and they update a link to it from a image of... asset? they can maybe make choices each time based on themes or skills or whateverthey choose that month so beginners get a chance to be picked instead of just the few with the megaexpensive gear every time, so for example someone using only phone getting a great shot of Orion nebula without blowing out the core to white might win for a technically challenging though common target, maybe someone who gets particularly creative with the composition of the shot, maybe a perfect shot of the bunny on the moon during easter? stuff like that so that everyone can feel encouraged to post something. Not like there's money at stake here and we have a good relaxed community here I feel so I dont think it'd be a big problem for the mods to sort out method themselves. provided they have time to devote regularly of course.
