So I can take flats after my lights and darks to complete the AP session I’m going to make a light box

Please advise if this is ok for a light box

Telescope 6” f6 newt on HEQ5 mount

190mm diameter x 200mm high white pvc bucket with the end cut out ( fits snug over the end of OTA )

I have a flat 13watt LED Down 4000K colour temp with opal diffuser at 200mm diameter which will fit on the end of the bucket , once again a nice snug fit
The inside of the bucket is glossy white

Fit over end of OTA and plug into power then take my flats

Will this suffice as a light box to take flats ?

Do I need a white t shirt stretched over the OTA as well ??

Appreciate advice and comments in regards to my proposed light box and taking flats etc

Thanks in advance

....or, one of these in the appropriate size. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LED-Recessed-Ceiling-Panel-Light-6W-12W-18W-24W-Downlight-Flat-Lamp-Square-Round/252529377363?hash=item3acbec8053%3A m%3AmhRPO1DdJoZj8yOgBT51-tA&var=551432557824

I use one and the light is very evenly distributed. They are a little bright for me though so I have stuck about 5 sheets of A4 paper over it to dim it a little.

I just point the scope straight up and sit the light on top of it....easy

Hi Jon

I already have the bucket ($5) and the down light (a spare one I had ) so according to your set up if I use white t shirt material over the down light or over the end of the OTA it should diffuse the light evenly enough ?

Do you agree ?

Martin

PS I want my light box to be plug and play , push on plug in and pull off ( nice and easy )

As long as the downlight has an even spread of light (no light/dark spots) then I don't see why not. Mine works perfectly using the flats aid in APT to identify the right exposure duration.....I aim for 20K ADU
