I had me end of trouble with getting flats at astrofest and needed something to help achieve those.

After seeing one of these in real life this afternoon with Scott Alder it looks like what I need and the price was right as too the size.

Looks good. Can you dim the light?

The characteristics you need are a reasonably broad & continuous output spectrum and good uniformity across the whole panel. If it does both of those then you've found a cheap solution to a difficult problem...

USB power. Wonder if you can vary the voltage.

From the demo that Scott showed me it runs off USB and has 3 settings, the middle one looked the most even.

Can you borrow it and try it out?

If it doesn't give even illumination by itself, you might be able to knock up a bit of a box (cardboard, craft foam - something stiff and light) and white perspex at a bit of spacing that should even the light out a bit more.

I do have a roll of drafting film I can add over the top. But you couldn't build this for the price, if it works for me I will be overjoyed

Got the A2 delivered today. Power is micro USB cable to main transfo plug. 2000mA/5V. One switch on/off. If you keep your finger on the switch it dims from max to min. Pretty cool. Easy to use. Good build. Like it a lot.

A2' ish. I went for the high roller 16:9 big screen. ;) I find that I have to rotate my A3 with the C11 on the dewshield to cover all and it doesn't dim very well either. My A4 dims no problem. These new ones seem to dim really well, and they're cheap. No glass either so I won't break anything. :scared3:

OK mine turned up today, not happy with the packaging or shipping. just had a round of tape sideways over it and the box is flimsy but it was intact. it works of the USB3 port rather well and i can adjust more than 3 settings, it seems to be able to dim smoothly down and up to any level. its light, and looks like it will do the trick. thanks Scott for showing me it in the first place
