I took this a little while ago.

Ha O111 S11 LRGB image of the Omega Nebula with a CDK17 and FLI ML16.

It took a while to process and I would leave it and come back to it.

Seriously, I'm still learning here, but do these nebulae contain any hydrogen Beta, or Helium that I sometimes see in spectrographs?

Thanks Mike. The CDK doesn't do too bad sometimes.



No they are all there but not necessarily done like Hubble. I tend to mix and match and no 2 images of these types are done exactly the same way so its not a rote approach.

Can you tell us more about how you mapped the SII, Ha, and OIII to red, green, and blue channels of the image, and how you combined the NB data with natural colour?

Nice detail there Greg, but it just looks a bit of one colour to me. Perhaps a little flat too. I am envious of your star shapes though.

Fair enough. Colour is dealers choice but yes I can see what you mean. I played around with the colour a lot and personally liked this scheme. I had another version I toned down where those crimsons from the S11 were more vibrant but the rest was not as good so its a compromise there.

Stars turned out very nicely. The CDK design is very forgiving for that.

Nice variation in detail across the image whilst managing the dynamic range as well. Shows that there is a lot going on.

Grouse detail and image working, Greg, quite the Exciting capture of this Target, Lots to look at, very neat dark filaments, over-all depth, the lightly billowing out-field extensions - Class result :thumbsup:

An unusual choice though to capture all the NB wavelengths yet render them all in the same monochromatic hue? :question:

Thanks Andy. There certainly are other combinations. I may play around with it some more and see how it turns out. But so far this was the best combo.
