A few that didn't quite make the cut for this months photo challenge..
All taken in the last month, 350D + 17-70 sigma.
Wow Mike, very nice !
You're kids are so photogenic.
Lovely colours in those, nice DOF and sharpness.
Did you use a fill flash for the last two? They look great !

Rigil had a ball at Whiteshill Recreational Reserve with his UFO. It was our annual BBQ and summer viewing night with BAS. Of course most times it's storms we watch, this time it was the comet!! What a show it was.

Right, earthlight, it's time to talk.
Apart from turning out some great 'photos, how do you get those spiffing frames around the images? Is it a special piece of software? Can even I, an imaging tyro, do such?
Perhaps I should throw that question open to the masses of imagers who populate this site as I have in fact noticed that others do similar things.

Thanks for the comments
Frames yes I'd love to know how to do it quicker and some of the different ones we see.
I use Photoshop, I think I have 7. CS has frames but I haven't had much of a chance to play with it yet. Any program will do what I do.
Anyway all I do is enlarge the canves size first to 109% for the first band, then increase 4 points for the fine line, then 105% for the last band roughly. The color band is chosen to highlight some color in the photo so I use the eyedropper to select it. Color is controlled by the background color in photoshop, not sure in the others.
Another way I know to get the feathered edge is paste it into a larger canves then rubout small %s of the original layer. I've never had time for this, and I am partial to the classic look I get. You can play with the ratios to get different looks too.
I'd like to do more but I have a 5 yr old birthday party to organise in 2 weeks and the Astrofest registration web page to finish ( I wanted it up a month ago) and I want to join the P&C this year to watch what happens before I really join in. Oh yes get the 14mth old his 12 mth shots and make a cast of his feet like I did with his brother at this age.
Mmmm time dilates around here. Before I know it, it will be 2008. Aaahhhhhhh
