Hi,

I am just trying to get back into AP. So I got a polemaster to help me. Tried it out the first time last night, with my AZEQ6 set to 33 degrees for Sydney I could not find Octans. I ran my current FOV through http://nova.astrometry.net/upload and have attached what I got. Man, that dial seems a way off. Is this normal for an AZEQ6. It looks around 5 degrees wrong, or am i doing it wrong?

Cheers
Paul

Use an inclinometer.

The indicators on Chinese mounts are traditionally WAY out.

I usually just use an App on my phone, it’s not exact but it gets me within a degree which is all I can ask for :)

I am inclined to agree with you....:P

I have smart tools on android and used it for the compass function. Now that I look it also has an inclinometer. Thanks for jogging my memory I will try that next time.

Use an inclinometer app - I can set mine within 0.1 degree of the right altitude using my iPhone. The only circle that matters on the AZEQ6 mount is the dec circle and that at least does work well enough, though only 2 degree divisions.
