I am after an M6 male to a 1/4" - 20 female adapter to screw on some counterweights to a shaft.
Does anyone know where in Melbourne I can get something fabricated?
I went to AB nuts and bolts and they got nothing like this.

Gday Stefan
You mean something like this
https://www.thorlabs.com/thorproduct.cfm?partnumber=AS25E6M
What i normally do for one offs like this with oddball thread sizes is buy/make a coupler union, then thread a bolt into it and then use a die to cut the external thread into the the oversize shank of the bolt,
but for $4 plus postage, the link above cant be beaten.

Andrew's source ^ sounds great. If you can't wait and you have a welding buddy, then take a M6 bolt and weld a 1/4-20 UNC nut on top.

Thanks mate!
They got the 3D CAD drawings as well, I might be able to 3D print it :)

Gday Stefan
I never looked that far.
That is plain ridiculous compared to normal postage for things that would fit in a small envelope.
However, you mentioned 3D printing it???
How strong does it need to be?,
as making in aluminium or brass would be simpler than steel or stainless.

orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr something like this
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1pcs-long-1-4-Male-Threaded-to-M6-Male-Threaded-screw-Adapter-for-tripod-camera-/171101789296
$3 + $2 shipping, and would thread into a union nut no probs.
Some specialist fastener suppliers in Oz may hold something like this as well.
CostLessBolts in Moorabbin is where i got a lot of oddball sized stuff like this,

Thanks mate.
A pain in the ass that we need to get this kind of stuff from overseas.

Hi Stefan,
I bought the ebay ones Andrew suggested and they work well. I use them for adding archery weights to my Star Adventurer & Mzero if just a little more counter weight is needed.

Gday Stefan
Im sure there are suppliers in Oz for this sort of stuff as well,
just they dont have a searchable website for these nicknacks
( or more likely, with peoples desire for the cheapest price no matter what
Oz retailers just simply no longer stock stuff like this.
We reap what we sow )

Let me know by pm if you still need this. It’s something I could turn up out of stainless scrap in a few minutes and will do it for the cost of postage as an exercise.
Cheers
Andrew.
