Took this from a lookout near the junction of Molonglo and Murrumbidgee Rivers with fog rising off the river in the valley.

It's just near the sewerage treatment works and the smells wafted over me from time to time. I know fogs often form in the valley, I took the risk of being fogged out for the chance of having fog on the foreground landscape.

That's a very nice shot. You obviously had darker skies than me. And I can't smell a thing.:)

Great shot Joe. I was torn as to whether to go for the nightscape approach or simply filling the frame with the moon. Ideally both :)

You certainly nailed the nightscape version with this one

Great image Joe

I used to live out that way as a kid, I can still remember those smell wafting in on a hot summer night.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

First apologies to the mods for my slip up with the title. Thanks RB for sorting that out. I've further edited the title.

David,
This location is less than 10 mins drive from home out just past the edge of the city but has a sky brightness of just 21.0 mag per arc sec. It's on the edge of the city looking west & southwest, the next big sources of light come from Wagga, Albury etc. They are building a large housing development in the area so I expect the sky brightness to jump up a bit.

Thanks Peter. I did a lot of closeups during the January eclipse, This one being so close to the horizon and at twilight lent itself more to nightscape. I have many more images from later as the sky brightened but haven't touched them yet.

cheers

Joe

Great shot Joe nothing like those wafting smells which are always more prevalent in the winter months.Up in our area thanks to the increased pop the smell factor is increasing as are the lighting skies.
