I stayed at the Ngarigo campground one night a week or so ago. Although it was very windy the temps were "mild" for Ngarigo at this time of year, hovering around 0C. I had the chance to try out a few of lenses. The first is a stitch of some exposures taken using a 14mm Samyang. the second is the sky overhead with the same lens. The green hue is because I hadn't swapped out a light pollution filter. Totally unnecessary under that dark sky. The third is the sky above taken without the filter using a 24mm Samyang and the fourth was taken with a 50mm Sigma lens. The camera is a Sony A7s and the ISO was 3200, exposure time 10s for each picture auto dark subtraction. No tracking and no stacking just seeing how far I can push a single exposure.

Was there snow there? Been thinking to take the kids for a small snow retreat.

Thanks, its interesting to see what you can get out of a single exposure (some stitched). The aberrations of the lenses are quite apparent when shooting wide open, so I guess (stating the obvious) stopping down and stacking shorter exposures is the way to go . . . next time.

Ngarigo is at 1200m, its a cold and often windy place. Early season snow stayed on the ground for weeks, however much of that is now gone . . . its only a short drive (20min) to Cascades and Dead Horse Gap plenty of snow for kids to play in up there.
