Folks,

I'm in 2 minds, I'm currently using a DSI as a guide camera and I have to admit this camera has not failed me since the purchase, its been a great camera for guiding, plaentary? its fair....but now?

I'm looking at either the ProStar - LP-GUIDE Auto-Guiding Camera Colour or the ZWO ASI120MC-S USB3.0 Colour.

I plan to get into the planetary game as having seen so many inducing images here on IIS as well as autoguide.

I know its a biggie to ask, but any recommendations??

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Paul
Depends if you want, OSC or Mono, have noticed that a lot of people on here are using either 290mm or 290mc and are getting good images, as is the 120mc. What scope were you planning on using.
I'm very happy with my 290mc, bit more expensive than the Prostar but works well as an guide camera.

Should add that the ZWO gets faster frame rates, at 640 X 480 on Jupiter I can get up to 80 FPS depending on Gain settings, usually about 200 / 250.
On Mars at same resolution can get 100 FPS or more, helps to freeze the seeing but can't see through the dust yet.
