Quick Omega Cen

I had some clouds moving in, in a about a couple of hours so i decided to have a go at Omega Centauri. Something I hadn't imaged in a few years.

Seeing was up and down due to the NW air flow.

70 minutes of RGB and no Lum @ f4.

Heartfelt congratulations on the colour. Instead of another physically impossible sparkling blue globular cluster, you've captured the pastel orange of a 10 billion year old beastie, with just enough saturation to clearly show the handful of blue stragglers (merged binaries) that are salient because of their intrinsic brightness. The field stars are pretty too.

I was guilty of over doing things a little in the past. However after looking at your work (and Trish of course) and and others on this site, I'm now learning to apply saturation and other processes in moderation.

Very nice image of Omega Dave. Looks like everything is going ok with that scope.

BTW I found that when I pulled the mirror out of mine, that there are springs on the adjustment screws but they are so flimsy that they would have little effect on holding collimation while adjustment is going on. So it's off to buy some more effective springs.

I noticed the springs today while removing the black silicon goo from the back of the mirror. The springs look like something out of a kids toy.

Once collimated I only make small adjustments and too be honest I just keep the locking screw snugged up while collimating so I wont bother upgrading the springs at this stage.
