It is a fine, bright and sunny day here in Tinderbox, south of Hobart. My telescope is set up and waiting - 140mm refractor with a Baadar solar film filter.

First touch is at approx 12.45.

Well, all it took was about 15 minutes for rolling cloud banks to appear out of thin air just in time for the partial eclipse!

Luckily, there was sufficient visibility of the Sun's bright disc through the moving cloud to view the first touch. First touch of the encroaching Moon was at 1251.35. From then on the Moon slowly encroached and the notch grew in size.

Not much else to see, so I'll return near the final egress point and follow that.

Not a sunspot in sight.

At 1330 I managed glimpses of the Sun through increasingly heavy cloud with the eclipse just past the half way mark. It was only a small notch at this point. I think the total coverage was predicted to be 3.51% at Hobart.

Heavy cloud prevented any observations of the final contact point.
