Call it what you like Alex, you sure are getting some imaging done, and with a walking frame, that's dedication.

Looks good Alex. It's a great part of the sky!

I was at Byron Bay over the weekend and yesterday was sitting next to someone who matches your IIS profile picture. I almost said "Hey, are you Alex?" If your Corona Australis picture is recent and from Sydney then I guess it wasn't you in Byron Bay. I probably saved myself a small amount of embarrassment.

Thanks Kevin.
It was not me I have not been to Byron Bay for at least 8 years.
I have only met three iceinspace members...interestingly the first meeting came from someone asking me if it was me ...from here...the fact that I had my eq6 set up in a computer shop probably helped.
Hope you enjoyed Byron.

Thank you gentlemen.
I did this one last night trying to do better and gather data...and thats another story my formate never varies but well the other night I went small and I sweare since then ...as I said another story.
Went thru a few to get forty four minutes...I am now trying to move towards quality rather than quantity...with this 30 second system I thinkk you could build a bank of high quality frames for a stack...I swear I notice noice for the first time..anyways I have been up late for a few nights processing all day and really sould go outside someplace.

I mostly put these other shots up to compare ..some shots look real different to what I send...or what I thought I sent..they turn red for a start.

Hey Alex, you're getting some real good details in your shots lately but something's off with the color. I had a look at the JPG file and even when you balance the histogram the colors are still off. I see you use DSS. By any chance are you using the right debayering pattern prior to registering and stacking? What's your camera bayer matrix? RGGB?

Hi Marc thanks for trying to help me.
I have not debayered anything.
In truth I did not know about its importance.
Reading up on it now but it is still a bit of a mystery.

I don't know if DSS does it automatically but the first step is to debayer prior to registering or even rotating any sub or you'll lose all the color. Try it on a single sub first.

I used to only stack Jpgs but then went to raw.
I think you have worked out my colour issue (apart from the colour blindness)
Thanks Marc I will work upon this aspect when I get some free time.

Well I have not got far with how to debayer so I have to add that to my what to figure out list.
I expect this may be news for other beginners so I think I will open a thread.

I shall not bother about the one I could not post last night.
Is this any better colour wise?

Kill the green Alex. Otherwise, its a really nice Corona. You've brought out the detail nicely.

What green?☺
A giant step forward however and I am doing two night stacks.
The 30 second thing seems to work with inbuilt dithering over long periods☺
Just competed another which I am happy about...m7...it was something to do whilst wsiting for my main target.

Hi Alex
Really good detail but now a little too red.
Im only a beginner with processing but it must be in the stacking settings that sets the colour.
Must be difficult getting colour balancd right not being able to see the colours to start with.
I had a quick look at the historgram of each image and the first one the green and blue channels are quite high compared to the red.
But in the last image its the red channel that peaks higher than the luminosity channel.
After stacking in dss are all the settings in the levels, colour etc set to zero or i think there might be a button to save without processing in DSS.
I used to get some strange results until I turned off something in DSS.
Im on my tablet now so ill have a look later.
I tried to colour balance a photo with my tablet in black and white mode and its really hard so being colour blind you have to look at the channels and even then it can be way off.
Good luck
Andy

Hi Andy.
Thanks for taking your time to help me I really appreciate it.
I found a toggle or box that had red at a higher value ..how that happened I dont know.
Anyways I have done yet another stack and process..this one has three hours and thirty eight minutes.
I tried not to play with the colour in this one.

Hi Alex,
I have done historgrams of each of your images in order.
To help, top to bottom is Lum, Red, Green, Blue.
The first image the blue and green channels are a bit high.
The second and last image the red channel is high.
The data is all there and really good detail but something is happening with the colour.
Im not too sure as im only a novice at processing.
All i do is stack in dss and then save as 16 bit tiff.
Then in photoshop change the curve a bit then stretch the levels a bit.
I never separate the colour channels but as i said before im only a learner.

I used these sites to sort of work out settings in DSS
https://www.stevebb.com/deep_sky_stacker.html
https://astrobackyard.com/deep-sky-stacker-settings/

Other than the colour thing these are really good images compared to what came out of my camera on Saturday night.
There not even good enough to excite a small child....
Cheers

Just checked one of my images i did a while ago and historgram.
And there seems to be very little data on the left hand side.
I think thats the black in the picture.
I hope this helps not and make it more confusing.
Cheers

Thanks Andy.
I sweare my photos get redder after they have been up for a couple of hours.
Same happened with my Lagoon.
I must try going away and coming back later to look.
This last one just does not look like the image I posted..????

I look at the last one and it seems so red...maybe I am going in and out of colour blindness.

Anyways my excuse will be that I use a unique colour pallette.

Anyways to me they look ok at the moment and in time I will get on top of processing.

I havent really started just using gimp and or photoshop.

So much to do with the mounts and scopes...and my little ob box.

I am just so busy with all this stuff.

I purchased a desk top computer today which I plan to use mostly for stacking...maybe only stacking...the lappy runs 24/7 stacking cause I am capturing every night that is clear...

Thanks again for everything.
Alex
