Australia Day 26-Jan-2007

The Director of the David Dunlap Observatory (DDO), which is operated by
the University of Toronto, informs me today that Argo Navis has been
operating routinely on the 1.88m (74") DDO telescope for several weeks
and is working very well.

The DDO is the largest optical telescope in Canada and when originally
constructed was the second largest telescope in the world. It is a
reflector on an equatorial mount. The telescope continues to play an
active research role.

Argo Navis is designed and manufactured by Wildcard Innovations in
Sydney, Australia and is exported around the world.

Many congrats, Gary.

It must be very gratifying to see your products working so well in locations all around the world, and particularly by those undertaking such serious work and research.

Well done. A genuine Aussie success story:thumbsup:

Thanks Houghy,

The mount error analysis and compenation part is called the
Telescope Point Analysis System, or TPAS.

The Director informs me that the first round of TPAS pointing tests
have been done and that the scope is pointing well. TPAS played an
important part in DDO selecting Argo Navis.

That is fantastic news Gary and something that makes every one of us here proud, as Australians, to know that the very best system of it's type in the world is also being recognised as such by the "big guns" overseas - having said that, we can only imagine how proud it must make both of you to have your product recognised that way. Congratulations to you both on such a well deserved accolade.

I am pleased to second JJJeanette's nomination of yourself and Mai as IIS Australians of the Year, and as it is now past midnight Australia Day I think that nomination has been universally carried with no objections.

Mike will organise the certificate and commemorative plaque soon I'm sure.
;)

I have to say that as a fairly new owner of an Argo-Navis I am also very happy of course to be able to tell my friends that my scope is guided by the same amazing system that the 74" DDO instrument uses.
