compass problem

I inadvertently left a magnetic compass alongside the magnetic base of my inclinometer for several minutes. The compass has gone haywire, can it be
made to function again?

Can't help but thanks for the heads up raymo, just got mine down and sure enough my compass is in the same small storage box as my inclinometer. Not any more.
