Hi All,

I am located in Alice Springs and generally into nightscape photography. Dark skies here are not a problem and I am spoilt for locations. Generally speaking I rarely have oworry about cloudy nights so I can plan my night shoots weeks in advance. :)

Anyway I joined the forum to get some ideas and tips and tricks, I believe I will be investing in a tracking mount very soon bt currently I do single exposure images.

About 7 years ago I got into stacking images usinf Deepsky Stacker to produce the final image but to be honest DS takes forever to process an image on my machine. However I was put on to Sequator and I processed some of my old stacked images and I was impressed at the speed of processing from Sequator so I will probably start using that more regularly.

Anyway just thought I would introduce myself and although I probabl wont be the most active person on the forums I will take the time to admire peoples images and ask questions occasionally. :)

Hi Paul

Welcome to our little community.

I'm from Alice Springs originally, born there (don't tell anyone)

I miss how dark the skies get there and how easy it is to find a dark site with nobody and no cars for miles.

Regards
Chris

Hi Chris,

Well I wasn't born here but I did my last 2 years of school here finishing in 1978. Joined the Navy from here and then the RAAF before coming back here with my wife in 1990. Pretty much been here ever since except for a brief relocation to Canberra.

Love the skies here and the camping is just the best. :)

Need to get myself a tracking mount to try and get the noise under control in my images. 4 minute exposures would certainly help over the current 20 seconds. :)

Used to be a Canon user but those days are long gone, still I used to really enjoy my Canon 300mm f2.8 L ISM lens. I am now shooting with Sony A7Rii body and teaming it with a Sony 24-70mm f2.8 G-Master lens and a Samyang 14mm f2.8. Thinking of getting the Samyang 24mm f1.4 and seeing how that goes.
