Hi All,

Saw on time and date there is a small partial eclipse that can be seen from parts of Southern Australia on Friday 13th July. I was looking for Melb:

Indeed very tiny. Only Victoria ans Tasmania will be in the 'shadow' of the Moon. But a small scope (with filter !) will reveal a tiny gap in the solar limb. It will just miss New Zealand (Invercargill).

Here’s a picture I took of a similar small partial in 2009. This one had an obscuration of 0.063% and eclipse magnitude of 0.031.

Hey Joe,

Thanks for sharing. I will be definitely outside watching this partial eclipse. Amazing to even see this.

Thanks for sharing.

Ian Griffin ( Director, Otago Museum ) is flying down to Stewart Island which will get an 8 minute 18% (IIRC) coverage. Fingers crossed for some cloud breaks...

That is dedication.

I hope it stays clear for all of us

So I was thinking about this today. As I was lucky to experience the eclipse last year in the US that was dubbed the "Great American Eclipse of 2017", maybe this one should be called the "P*ssweak Aussie Eclipse of 2018"?

Just a thought.:P
