Yep, we have great skies again tonight. Boy, we are getting spoilt in the last few nights :)

The comet looked great from here again.

That's some impressive camera gear you have there, Leon. And the image shows the benefit. What does a Canon 5D body set one back?

DN, The Body alone is between $4800.00 to $5200.00, depends where you go, and who you know.
If you add a Canon 135mm F/2.0L Lens, well that can be in the order of $2000.00, Plus, 300mm F/4.0L Lens about, $2400.00, and 17-40mm F4.0L about, $1500.00.

So if you add a couple of things like Extenders, and Remote switch, and IGig Card, you wont get much change from $10,000.00. :eyepop:

I know it's expensive but, they are brilliant Camera's and Lenses.

Andrew, i reckon we will be able to see it for about another 3-4 nights.

We have been blessed with clear nights, and they are predicted to continue for some time, and i have been blessed with a great Camera/Lens Combination.

My 135mm Canon F2.0L lens just blows it away, it is so sharp and accurate, I just put it on F2.0, AV Mode, 1600 ISO and press the Remote, the rest is taken care of, and i dosnt matter how dark it is, each frame is about 5 sec's..

More Imaging tonight for sure.

I've read some of the reviews on Luminous Landscape. I've been thinking of moving to all digital, and now that Canon has a full frame sensor camera that doesn't cost as much as a small car, it may be a good time to bite the bullet.

DN if you can manage it, like Andrew said you will be well rewarded with great images, however i am still learning and will hopefully improve over time.

One thing crossed my mind, what sort of tracking mount would work best for a camera? I don't have a scope on a tracking mount to mount a camera on, but perhaps one of the eq3/4/5 type equatorials might be useful for the camera by itself?

Advice, anyone?

I have an EQ5 and _accurate_ tracking on these types of mounts for
long exposure type imaging isn't the best option. Like everything the
more money you spend the better the outcome. Just my opinion

Actually i to have an EQ5, and other than the Comet shots i do all my wide fields with the Camera on it.
If the Mount is pretty well aligned i dose quite a good job, i dont say it would be to flash on very long exposures, but on anything up to 3 minutes plus it dose reasonably well.
