I have been waiting for an Astronomik 2" 10nm Halpha filter. It arrived today at Bintel in Melb. and Roger Davis kindly DELIVERED it to my home tonight. It is now safely installed in the Canon 300mm F2.8L ( after a slight mod ) waiting for the Sun to set. I don't think I could have waited through a public holiday with clear skies as I was unable to pick it up.
I can now take images when the Moon is up:clap:
Will post some images later.
Thanks Roger and Bintel.

Looking forward to the images, Bert:thumbsup:
Nice one Bintel !
Now Burt can you please outline what mods you've done because the 300mm F/2.8 takes 52mm filters. How do you fit a 2" filter into it?

The Canon 300mm F2.8L I have is not the IS version. The IS version takes 52mm filters. Mine takes 48mm or 2" filters.
Astronomik filters are FAT that is the metal holder thickness. I simply took a very expensive filter and rubbed it vigorously (OK carefully) on 180 grit wet and dry Carborundum paper to thin the metal holder. Then washed in ethanol and acetone and dried with compressed gas. It now fits beautifully into the slot in the lens and the optical surface of the filter is still pristine.
It shows very nice circular concentric Fabry Perot fringes when held up to a bright light source. This shows the quality of the filter.
