View Full Version here: : Personal weather stations?
i am looking at weather stations at the moment and interested in what people are using. It doesn’t need to be astro dedicated but should have good connectivity with the internet, be wireless and have a range of sensors, indoor and outdoor.
The use case is for a friend who has a small holding and who isn’t on site all the time.
Any thoughts or experiences?

David I am using the one in the link. Jaycar has them or had them. It is solar powered and works really well. I have flawless operation for about 18 months now.

I've been playing with an Argent ADS-WS1 connected to a Raspberry Pi 3 as a weather station for my local Aero Club.
Requires a bit of tinkering to get it connected but that's part of the fun.

No this one is at home but could probably be used in such a situation, though it won't give you a rainfall sensor and cloud sensor.

I had one of the ebay cheapies on the roof for around 10 years. The plastic and bearings eventually failed on the anemometer cups but it was otherwise robust. There was a memory leak issue with the supplied software it would gradually grind your PC to a halt, some of us used a third party application which could access the data and display as a webpage for remote access, Weather Display http://www.weather-display.com/index.php Weather Display is a little tricky to get running but it works as advertised.
Quality on the cheap weather stations is a bit hit and miss but generally they work well for the money. Lots of info in this thread.

Thanks for the tips and links, people. Phil, quite a thread there!I looked at the Davis, build looks great but can’t get over the fact you have to spend x bucks just to get the data onto the interweb..
I found this item which might do the trick. The end user won’t want to connect it to a PC on a permanent basis but this look it will push data onto the web.
