It is with the greatest sadness that I inform the astronomical community that Dr Terry Trevor Moon (Tex) succumbed to cancer today in Scottsdale, Tasmania. He has worked for years measuring variable stars from his home in Blakeview, SA, and more recently in Scottsdale, Tas, and has more recently been a champion of getting more recognition for the work done by “Citizen Astronomers”. Rest In Peace my old friend and mentor.

I think I knew Terry. I think he is the lovely gentleman that I purchased my observatory from. We went to his house and pulled it down and rebuilt it as Lockleys Observatory. Very passionate about variable stars.

As president of the Astronomical Society of South Australia I wish to convey the Society's condolences on Terry's passing. I met him once years ago and he seemed like a very nice person.
