Jupiter: Europa Shadow Transit 14/04/05

Taken about 15 minutes after Europa egressed from it's
transit of the planet disc, Io is out to the right.

51 x .177 sec exposures, if I remember correctly

That is one nice shot, the colours of Jupiter look really natural, the moons look awesome I don't think you could have done much better. Focus looks spot on too. Did you use a Barlow aswell?

Yes, I used a Vixen x3 barlow. Personally I feel focus is very
critical to the end result of the image. I spend more time on
focusing than I would in image capture and processing. The
better the focus the less chance for colour bleed during
processing, resulting in the glazed over boiled lollie look. Also
the better the focus the less processing needed to be done.

With the other Jupiter Io & Shadow transit image I posted. I
unscrewed the optical elements off my Meade x2 APO #140

and screw that onto the nose of the LPI then loaded that into
the Vixen x3 to achieve magnification. That image took me
about and hour to focus before I was happy, even then I felt
I wanted to work on it more... but I had low flying nebulae to
contend with.
