Central West Astronomical Society Astrofest 14/15 July 2018

The Central West Astronomical Society is hosting its annual Astrofest on the weekend of 14 and 15 July in Parkes, NSW. The event combines talks by prominent astronomers, the presentation of the annual David Malin Awards for astrophotography, the Astrofest dinner, and daytime astronomy.

This year, the featured speakers are:
- Dame Jocelyn Bell-Burnell DBE FRS FRSE FRAS, astrophysicist and discoverer of the first pulsar
- Donna Burton from the Milroy Observatory, Coonabarabran
- Amy Shira Teitel, spaceflight historian, author, YouTuber, and popular space personality
- Professor Elaine Sadler, astrophysicist and recently appointed Chief Scientist of the Australia Telescope National Facility

Looking forward to heading out to Parkes again this year. I note that David Malin will be presenting the CWAS/malin awards at the conference rather than the dinner venue this year....I rather liked the previous format, hence wondered why the change?
